The hotel could deliver a much better stay. There were no services for children, like a playroom, a special welcome, or even a small gesture for young guests. The gym was also closed or unavailable for one day, with no explanation. Location and the staff’s general attitude are very good, which helps explain the positive reviews. But the cleanliness didn’t meet four-star expectations. The room had only been superficially cleaned: chewing gum under a small table, dried noodle or pasta pieces under the desk, a snus can and chip bag under the bed, and a raisin in the corner. An energy drink can was in the elevator on day one, and a half-eaten apple appeared later. Both stayed there for some time. Breakfast was very basic, with little variety, and didn’t feel up to four-star standards.

Be careful about what you’re charged. The online confirmation on Scandic’s website didn’t match the amount charged, by over 1000 SEK. I think they overcharged me because of an error applying a member rate to the two rooms we booked. I’ve asked them to explain the differences between the website, email, and final bill, but they keep blaming currency exchange even though the room rates don’t match. It took ten emails to get a manager to respond, and since then I’ve heard nothing. There’s still no legitimate explanation. They also charged me a currency difference for a room we cancelled three months earlier, because they processed it a day later. They moved payments around on the day even though the rooms were prepaid. They said they’d refund that charge, but didn’t. It’s been over two months since their last message promising to refund some parts, and nothing has been refunded or properly explained. Really irresponsible, and a bad experience. I wouldn’t recommend them anymore. Scam.

The views through the big windows are cool, and the rooms are nice. You’re close to everything in town. Breakfast is good and feels fresh, though there’s nothing unique about it. The one drawback is the TVs. You can’t cast to them or use streaming apps.

The room was massive, with clean sheets that smelled nice and plenty of extra space. There was no fridge, but everything else was there. Breakfast was very good, with lots of hot, cold, and vegetarian choices. I’d highly recommend it. It wasn’t overly expensive, and the location was great.
