Högbo Brukshotell & Spa

The cabin rooms are small, quiet, and lovely, and breakfast is so good, especially the waffles. I’ve only been once, but this is my favorite hotel in the world, and I’ll definitely come back whenever I can. I’m Swedish, and when I didn’t live in Stockholm, it was 10 minutes from my grandparents’ house. There’s so much to do: I tried paddling, soccer golf, golf, big chess, tree climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, and checked out the spa and lake. I also sat at the farm, enjoyed the views, and did lots of nature games. Highly recommend!

The nature, activities, helpful and friendly staff, delicious food, and products to buy are all top notch. It’s my favorite place in all of Sweden. Special thanks to Sofia: I accidentally dropped my mobile while hiking in the woods last week, and luckily she found it before I even realized it was missing!

The only things I liked were the spa and the nearby lake. Everything else felt cheap, uncomfortable, and badly managed. I wouldn’t recommend Hogbo Hotel and Spa. I booked 10 days for 1500€, and this has been my worst hotel experience. I’m on day 7, my back hurts badly, and I can’t wait to leave because the mattresses are awful. I also regret eating at the restaurant. The potato starter came with corn so hard I nearly broke a tooth, and the medium-rare beef I ordered was practically raw. That meal alone cost 60€. I went to the spa twice, then on my third visit was suddenly told I’d have to pay another 350€ for 10 days’ access. That should have been made clear from the start. For what I paid, the quality was shocking.

I’d recommend the Best Western in Sandviken instead for business or leisure. It has lovely rooms, better service, and free laundry, which is a much fairer deal. Hobo Brukshotell & Spa felt like a plain and simple rip-off. At Hobo Brukshotell & Spa in Sandviken, Sweden, my recent stay was underwhelming and far too expensive. There’s no daily room cleaning, and weekend prices shoot up without anything extra to justify it: I paid $290/night on weekends compared with $230/weeknights. Laundry was absurd too, 1,700 SEK (~$170 USD) for a small bag of clothes.
