We went to Hallstaberget Hotel for my partner’s birthday, but the visit became very upsetting. An intoxicated guest made a racist remark to us at the spa, then came back later and grabbed my partner by the head, which turned into a physical incident. We didn’t feel safe or supported. The manager made no real effort to understand what happened, and the guest wasn’t asked to leave. He was still being served alcohol despite appearing clearly intoxicated, and was only removed after he fell on his own. That’s especially worrying in a spa, where the floors are slippery. Even after we explained the situation, staff didn’t take our concerns seriously. There was no effective help from a manager willing to listen, and no visible security, so we felt we had to look after our own safety. We expect to feel safe and supported at a hotel, but that never happened here. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone expecting a safe, properly managed environment.

Since getting a new head chef in October 2025, the dinners have been among the best I’ve ever had. That includes meals at a few Michelin restaurants in France and Canada, and some top places in the US. I strongly suspect this chef will become very highly regarded across Sweden in a few years, once word gets around.

The spa is great and the views are amazing, which makes it a shame the customer service is a joke. The rooms are so noisy, with sound coming from next door and above. I could even hear the person next door breathing, and there’s a huge gap under the doors. I’ll never stay here again.

We spent two lovely days here, with a cozy dinner in their “Wine cellar.” The bed was clean and comfortable, and our room even had a sauna. The spa was great too, with a beautifully designed sauna, pool, and bar.

The staff were really kind, and the location and surroundings are lovely. The spa is a great place to relax during your stay. Sadly, the food wasn’t excellent.
