Hotel Birger Jarl

I've stayed here several times over the years and have always had a good experience. The breakfast is wonderful, the beds are comfortable, and the service is friendly. It's a great central Stockholm hotel, especially handy if you're driving and need good parking. Warmly recommend it!

The self check-in and check-out were convenient and saved us from queuing, though we had a bit of trouble working out the check-in machines. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Breakfast had a tasty range of choices, including several milks, breads, and cheeses. I did notice some guests using the same spoons across different foods, including meat and tomato-based dishes, which made me wonder about food hygiene. The tea and coffee were warm rather than hot. Maybe that's a Swedish thing, but it stood out to me. The hotel is very well placed for the city centre and public transport. Our room was an okay size, though it could use renovation. There was no air conditioning, and having it would make the rooms much more comfortable in warmer weather.

The room was cozy and had what we needed. The hotel is close to the metro, within walking distance of most places, and near some good restaurants. There's also a gym on the top floor. Breakfast is a big buffet, with gluten-free and some vegetarian choices.

The rooms are on the small side, but they were clean and comfortable, and the price felt good for what we got. The location is great, about a 10-minute walk from the city centre. The staff were nice, and the lobby had free coffee and drinks. The restaurant was convenient and pleasant too, though the food was just okay.
