Crystal Plaza Hotel

The location is really nice. Rooms were okay, though it took a long time for the shower water to warm up. Staff didn't greet me when I came back or when I left. Breakfast was fine, but served in a different restaurant.

We found hair clips on the floor, which made it clear it hadn't been cleaned properly. The sink was stained and not properly clean either. The room heating didn't work, and instead of moving us to another room, they brought a small portable heater that obviously wasn't enough to warm the room. We also found pins in the small blanket, which was completely unacceptable and extremely dangerous.

The main frustration was the cleaning schedule. Twice I got back between 3 and 4 pm after walking all day, hoping for a shower and a nap, and the room still hadn't been done. Housekeeping were polite but didn't help much, and one day it wasn't cleaned until 5. That alone would put me off returning to the Crystal Plaza Hotel. Next time in Stockholm, I'll spend more on somewhere better. The location is handy for the main sights, and getting there from the airport was simple: Arlanda Express to Stockholm Central Station, then one metro stop. Staff were welcoming, and breakfast was fine. I don't get the complaints from other guests about it. A couple of mornings there was even a waffle iron and batter, which I'd never come across at a hotel. My one breakfast gripe was the lack of croissants. I had a cramped single room away from the street, so I can't speak to the reported night noise. The bed was comfortable, but there was no safe and barely any wardrobe space. The kettle came with instant coffee and tea, though those supplies weren't replenished reliably. The bathroom was tight too. The shower was fine, but the toilet and tiny basin were crowded together, and the basin was mounted too low for me as a tall guy.

We had a lovely stay in the turret's round room. Being able to open the windows for fresh air was nice. Its unusual shape left room for only a very small bathroom, but it worked fine.
