Nomad City Hostel

The hosts were really friendly, and I enjoyed my stay. It’s only a few minutes on foot from the central station, closer to the center than I expected. The room and bathroom were clean, and the bathrooms were nicer than at a lot of places I’ve stayed in the city. There’s a good-sized kitchen, and movie night was a bonus.

They rented out my single room while I was staying there. When I arrived at the hostel, someone else was in my bed. They didn’t tell me anything until I messaged them. After that, they gave me a different room and bed, but it was clearly a worse option. They said I’d been informed, but that wasn’t true. They only told me my reservation had been cancelled because I hadn’t checked in. I had checked in, and why would someone give up their reservation while it was still active? They never told me ahead of time about either the bed change or the room change. It’s ridiculous that this happened.

The whole environment felt chaotic, noisy and poorly managed, and it completely ruined what was meant to be an enjoyable trip to Stockholm. Given how poor the stay was, I’d like a refund as compensation, and I hope this complaint is taken seriously and the property reviews its comfort, security and guest management standards. We arrived late at night, and an unknown person asked us to let him into the building. We couldn’t tell whether he was a guest, which made us feel uncomfortable and unsafe. The room was extremely cold, with cold air coming in from several places near the beds. My friend and I couldn’t sleep properly, and both woke with sore throats and feeling unwell. There was also excessive noise through the night. Drunk guests were shouting and fighting in the corridors around midnight, and it went on for hours, making it impossible to rest. In the morning, someone asked to use our private bathroom, which added to how uncomfortable the stay felt.

The facilities and location were great, and the advance arrangements for our larger booking went smoothly. The hostel handled our contact in a very professional way. I can highly recommend it.
