Stora Hotellet, BW Premier Collection

The rooms were comfortable, with effective air conditioning and a roomy bathroom, and breakfast was varied and tasty. I also found the service very friendly. The hotel's interior design is beautiful, and its excellent location makes it easy to get around. Parking was the one downside, as it was a bit expensive, but this is still a great place to stay.

It feels like walking into an old movie, and it really gets your imagination going. What a gorgeous, personal hotel, with a total “what on earth is going on here?” kind of wow 🤩

The building's interior is what made the stay feel so different. It has a ship's cabin style, and even the hallway doors are decorated with ships. My room felt cozy and a little adventurous, like being aboard an old vessel. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've tried, and I slept well. I was glad to find a hairdryer and an iron in the room too. The staircase is beautifully designed, with artistic details that give the place a historic, elegant feel. There's a glass roof over a connected space that includes a library, a museum, and Umeå Hotel. It feels open, relaxing, and inspiring. Breakfast was a good continental spread of fresh bread, cold cuts, cheese, and other choices. Everything tasted nice, especially the fresh juice. Stora Hotellet is easy to find, with its entrance on the building corner facing the park. This was a memorable stay in Umeå, and I'd come back.

We loved how far the owners let their imaginations go with the decor. If you're after a quirky hotel with a different feel, this place is amazing. The beds were very comfy and the toiletries in the rooms were lovely, so we'd definitely return. The hotel restaurant was closed on Sunday, so we went to GP’s (the Guilty Pleasures Cafe) for dinner.
