The location makes getting around easy, right across from the train and bus station and close to the city center. It’s also peaceful and quiet. The owners are wonderful and really care about making your stay a good experience; the workers are friendly, too, and everything is super clean. A great place to stay 😊

The hotel’s small boutique had affordable, stylish, sustainable things to buy, including tea and handmade candles. Breakfast was delicious, with a great range and quality of food. What stayed with me most was how Hotell Fängelset i Västervik keeps its prison past visible through the decor and detailed historical displays: old photos, texts, and a curated room with a prisoner doll showing the former living conditions. It was an unforgettable stay, and a must for anyone interested in history who wants good value.

The price is a bit high, but this is the best place in Västervik. Breakfast is great, and the staff are so helpful and experienced at their jobs.

The rooms are clean and well served, and staff are friendly and helpful. Guests can use a fully functional kitchen with several coolers and fridges. There are different room types, though most are tiny former prison cells. Those cells are small and undecorated, so you need to like the idea of staying in one. The old prison compound’s history is preserved, with its story literally written on the walls, giving you a real sense of what conditions were like for inmates. Breakfast is basic, but fresh and well made. A very exciting experience, highly recommended.

A cool place to stay, with clean, comfortable rooms and excellent service. It’s centrally located, and there’s nearby parking with a charging station. Breakfast was great too. Highly recommended.
