ABC Hostel

As of 11/04/2025, ABC Hostel is operating like a foreign workers' dormitory and is in very poor shape because maintenance is lacking. One area of rooms has had frequent MCB trips at peak times, more than 50 times a day for the past three months, and the issue still hasn’t been fixed. The toilet seats are heavily stained and unusable. There’s inadequate ventilation, humidity is above 90%, and occupants are experiencing health problems.

The location is good, and the shower and toilet are new, but cleanliness is only average. There’s just one shared toilet, although our double room had its own shower. The bedding isn’t standardized, with a mattress placed on a wooden frame. Renovation work is underway, so I think it might improve after the changes. The plumbing still needs attention: we were on the ground floor, and water from the upstairs shower came down to our floor, with foam visible in it.

There wasn’t enough room for everyone’s luggage, so guests’ belongings ended up scattered around. Construction materials were left in plain sight in an open room that could have been useful for storing luggage. The place felt overcrowded, and there were far too few toilets for the number of people. I did have a good experience otherwise.

I stayed at this hostel for two or three days during a study trip in 2012, and thankfully nothing went wrong. The room was nice, the service was okay, and it wasn’t too crowded. The Wi-Fi was super fast back then, and breakfast was lovely: bread with fruit jam. I really liked it.
