Everything was spotless, from the room to the shared areas, and it was all very well maintained. That made the stay especially comfortable. The location is convenient for getting to attractions, restaurants and transport, and the hotel feels like good value. I'd recommend it and would gladly stay again.

The best parts were the free water refill and how close the hotel is to the MRT, just a one-minute walk. The Wi-Fi was extremely slow and usually wouldn't connect, though, and the AC was too hot and didn't work properly. Most staff were polite, and the woman on duty in the evening apologized after our room wasn't cleaned. I called reception the day before and was told housekeeping would come between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m., but when we got back around 9:00 p.m., nothing had been done. The man on the phone was blunt, and may have been the same staff member who was unfriendly at check-in. At check-in, he seemed irritated while reading our booking code, then sternly warned us not to eat durian or smoke on the premises. We told him we wouldn't break the rules because we hate durian and the smell of smoke too. He replied curtly that other guests had said the same thing and still broken the rules. Please don't assume guests are dishonest when we've clearly said we'll comply. A more polite welcome would have meant a lot to first-time guests.

The price was good for the location, right in central Singapore and only a short walk from the MRT. At the front desk, though, communication was difficult because the staff had limited English. I was surprised by that, since English is one of the main languages spoken in the country.

The staff were very helpful, and I liked that there was a water dispenser on the floor for refills. I stayed for the first time for three days and two nights. The room was small and minimalist, but tidy and clean, and the hotel smelled nice. Lavender MRT is nearby, with plenty of places to get food and a supermarket across from the hotel.
