The Hive Singapore Hostel

The beds themselves were fine, but everything around them felt unpleasant and unclean. We couldn’t stay the night. It was cheap, but for me the experience wasn’t worth the suffering. I wanted to leave this review because the place was a bit of a shock.

I was here three nights on my own. The sleeping pods are pretty spacious, with a charging point, table, mirror and cool light. The rooms are quite clean, and the bathrooms, showers and sinks are clean too. There’s a washing machine and an iron, plus unlimited tea and coffee, but no breakfast. The location is great for a very reasonable price. You can walk around Little India even at night, and the neighbourhood feels very safe. There’s a seafood restaurant right across the street that stays open 24 hours, as well as lots of cute cafés and restaurants if you like food. There’s also a huge cat 🐈‍⬛, like a guardian, ha ha. If you’re a cat lover, you’ll appreciate it. One staff member, a girl wearing specs, was very nice. Another lady was mean and strict, and disregarded me even at check-in. Customer service could definitely be better.

The pod is quite small and made of plastic, so it gets noisy when you move around inside. Still, it was a very nice stay for the price. The room was quiet, though a little hot. The aircon is off from 3am to 7pm, and even with a big fan it was still somewhat warm. When I arrived around 3pm, there was no one at reception. The keys for that day’s check-ins were laid out on the reception table, so I had to find the one with my name. Instructions listed my room, bed number, room key card and locker key. The shower, toilet and wastafel were clean, and they provide a towel, shampoo and soap. Coffee and tea are free all day. You can also use the refrigerator, microwave and hot water for free, just clean up after yourself.

It felt like a home away from home, and I’ll definitely come back. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a lively social feel, and they clearly care about keeping the facilities spotless. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect. This hostel really went beyond what I expected and sets a high bar. I can’t say enough good things about it.
