Hotel Conforto

The room was cheap, and the hotel is in an excellent location. We enjoyed food from one of the hawkers around the corner, shown in the picture. The TV only had one channel tuned in properly. Tea, coffee, a kettle, and water were provided, even though tap water is fine. They required a $50 security deposit, refunded at checkout. They still had COVID distancing signs up, which felt like going back in time and should have been taken down. The date change was a bad start. I understand a non-refundable booking can't normally be cancelled, but we made ours less than 24 hours earlier for a check-in date four days away, so I think reception could have made an exception. The stay length would've been unchanged, so they were unlikely to lose any revenue. We had reserved six nights but couldn't use three, so we checked in and returned three days later. Those nights were unfortunately wasted. Still, three nights was probably long enough in the windowless room we chose. The staff were distant at first and warmed up a little. By the end, they were basically smiling a little.

The staff were nice, and the room was okay. The towels, though, were quite old and full of holes. Prices are high, but I guess that's Singapore.

For a two-star place, it has the basics: a single-bed room with air conditioning, a kettle, and one 500 ml bottle of water plus one coffee and one tea packet each day. Service was good, and there’s a small lobby with surveillance. Check-in is at 3 pm and checkout at noon. There’s no bidet spray in the washroom. Muslims who need one can use the hand shower or go outside the mall to find a toilet with a bidet spray.

The room we got was tiny and didn’t feel worth the price. The elevator was so small that we had to squeeze in, trying not to make my little brother feel suffocated. My mom booked four days expecting more because of the 3.6 rating, and she was disappointed. It might be fine if you’re traveling alone or just staying one night, but no.
