Carlton City Hotel Singapore

We spent 8 nights here after staying at their sister hotel on Bras Basar road before, and wanted a change of location. The hotel is close to Tanjong Pagar MRT, about a 2 minute walk, with Chinatown and Maxwell Hawker Centre nearby. Across the road there’s a local shopping centre with lots of family run restaurants and a supermarket. We tried different national dishes at the restaurants and mixed with locals who live in the 6 Housing Towers. It felt safe, and we liked supporting local businesses. The area had a great vibe day and night. From our 7pm arrival, we were treated with respect and politeness, and staff made us feel nothing was a problem. Mai at the front desk was exceptional, handling our requests promptly and always with a smile. The team at the Cooling Tower Bar were attentive too. On our first visit for a look and a drink, they were very helpful. When we returned, they welcomed us like long lost family and made us feel special. The location worked really well for us. Fairview Supermarket is right across the street for groceries, fruit or toiletries, and a short walk gets you to a mall with a food court and bakeries. The MRT is nearby, as is the local Tangong Hawker Center on the 2nd floor. Most major attractions are about 10 minutes away by Grab, or roughly a 10 minute walk to Chinatown. There’s parking and a driveway for easy Grab pickups and drop offs. We loved how quiet the rooms were, and everything was exceptionally clean. The beds were comfortable, housekeeping was thorough and timely, and the friendly reception staff were very accommodating. The room had plenty of luggage storage, a great shower with strong pressure that was well sealed and didn’t leak, and even a bathtub. The lobby is beautiful, and guests can borrow umbrellas. There’s an indoor and outdoor gym, a large pool, good views, plus room service and a restaurant. I also appreciated the filtered water faucet as a way to cut down on plastic. One of the best hotels we’ve stayed in. It honestly can’t get much better.

Stayed for 4 nights in late January and thought it was good value. We booked a Deluxe room, which was clean and a decent size, as expected, but nothing special. I used the pool and outdoor gym in the mornings, and they were never busy. The rooftop bar was okay with a good view, though drinks were pricey, around 20SGD for a beer.

The location near MRT and city transport made it easy to get around, and check-in was quick and straightforward. The in-room WiFi stayed strong and worked smoothly throughout my stay. Rooms were clean and modern, staff friendly and professional, and the gym was well equipped. I enjoyed the food and pleasant atmosphere at the hotel restaurants and bars. I didn’t use the outdoor pool this trip, but it looked scenic and relaxing, so I’d try it next time. The rooftop bar and lounge had a nice evening feel and were a good place to unwind. Since it was my birthday, staff gave me a complimentary pastry, a thoughtful personal touch. There was also a visible “no durian fruit” sign. I didn’t know what durian was until I caught a whiff, and now I understand why it’s forbidden. I had a great time at Carlton City Hotel Singapore and would absolutely stay again.
