Fernloft - City Hostel Singapore

The Chinatown location is good, but after two nights I was dreading going back to this hostel because I couldn’t sleep properly. You can hear everything, from construction work to toilets flushing. My pillows were lumpy and smelled used, the blankets were yellowish and dirty, and the bedroom smelled musty, with poor air circulation and wet towels. The toilet and bathroom smelled of urine and mould. There was just one unisex toilet for 15 people, and the lights were very dim. With no windows and cheap furniture, it reminded me of a school dorm or a boarding school for delinquents. Hot showers, toilet paper, Wi-Fi, and air conditioning were provided. Breakfast was very basic. I couldn’t bring myself to eat toast that seemed plastic, with butter stored in a plastic container. The customer service problem made things worse. The manager said I’d made a booking mistake and should pay extra. Luckily, I’d taken a screenshot of my booking right after I made it, so I could show what I’d booked. Their booking system seemed flawed, but the way they handled it was worse. Blaming the customer first is a giant no. It’s a cheap place, and literally you get what you pay for. That’s the honest truth.
