Five/6 Hotel Splendour

We paid 66 euros per night for the blue twin room. Hotels in Singapore are expensive, so that feels like a high price even for an OK hotel. The beds, sheets, and towels were clean and good, although the pillows were so high that you may want to bring your own if you can’t sleep on high ones. Cleaning was OK overall. The shower was hot and worked well with its individual water heater. It was quiet during our stay on the top floor. There was drinking water by the elevator, plus a fridge, safe, and kettle, but the room was small, especially for two. It really needs a deep clean beyond the usual tidying. The bathroom doorpost was rotten, there were ants in the room and lots of stains on the walls, and the place needs a good renovation or freshening up. The AC worked well but was very dusty. The hallway and elevator felt like a sauna. Staff were very friendly. It’s in the red light district, a different vibe and part of Singapore. The MRT was far, a 15-20 minute walk in the Singapore heat, which was quite a challenge. There’s a bus around the corner that connects to Chinatown and Kampong Glam during the day, but we had to rely on Grab for most trips, which was pricey. Lots of local food restaurants are nearby, as well as a 7eleven and an ATM. You have to pay a 100S$ deposit on arrival. Pay in cash, otherwise it can take up to a month to clear on your credit card.
