Gap Year Hostel

This is about Gap Year Hostel's side business as a collection point in 2023-2024. We kept having trouble collecting parcels from Gap Hostel's service. The front door was often locked with nobody there and no contact details, even when we came during the recommended 10AM - 6PM window and checked back frequently, sometimes every hour. As a result, parcels were returned because storage time was limited. We tried to raise the problem politely with the owner, but got an unapologetic reply about limited manpower. After this ongoing trouble, we decided not to use Gap Hostel as a collection point anymore.

Staff told us collection was available during operating hours, 10am to 6pm, and customers followed that. Still, staff left for the day in the afternoon, as early as around 3pm, without handing over, leaving tenants to cover reception. They couldn't hand parcels to customers, so all orders were returned. It was a frustrating experience caused by the staff's irresponsible attitude. Updated review to clarify that the owner's claim that 24/7 service was expected is false.

I understand parcel collection isn't your main business, but I expected the stated collection hours to be respected. I walked there with a 7kg parcel from ParknParcell, but there was nobody to handle it or open the door. For about five days at Gap Year Hostel, I had a great stay. The common room was always airy, the bathrooms were never dirty, and the beds were really clean. The staff were just as great, and they even offered to do my laundry for free. I'd definitely recommend staying here!
