Kim Tian Hotel (Han)

We paid €200 for two nights, including New Year’s Eve. That didn’t feel like a deal. The place was dirty, outdated, and had no communication or customer service. Our tiny rooms were dusty and very dirty, and there was no real housekeeping. In two days we never saw anyone cleaning, the room was never serviced, and we got neither fresh towels nor water. Old bedding sat in piles along the corridors on every floor throughout our stay, and there was garbage piled outside the entrance. The WiFi was very bad. I could only connect every second or third try, if I was lucky. The location was quite alright, with a nearby metro providing good connections to the city centre, and several restaurants around the hotel.

They require guests to provide full details of their day visitors. Singapore law doesn’t require this, and I see it as a complete abuse of their position and a violation. Avoid staying here.

There are several restaurants nearby, and the area is calm and well connected. Kallang metro station is about a 15-minute walk away. But the room was small, smelly, and dirty. The lamp was dusty, the window handle was yellow, and the walls were dirty. The room wasn’t cleaned after the first night, and for both days I was there, garbage sat beside the entrance. Dirty towels and sheets were left on the floor by the elevator. Check-in and checkout both felt awkward. At check-in, we got the impression we weren’t very welcome. When checking out, all we got was “ok, bye.” Even a “Thanks, hope you had a nice stay” seemed like too much to expect. There was a total lack of care for every possible detail. Look for another option if you can.

Cockroaches were the first thing I noticed when I entered the room, and there were lots of them. They were by the door, on the bed, and in the washroom too. After room service, blankets were left outside each floor’s lift, which was annoying and dirty. I wouldn’t recommend staying even one night.
