Maxwell

The construction site looming over the entrance was hard to miss, and we could hear banging outside. Still, none of us in our three rooms noticed construction noise indoors. Once inside, the property felt upscale, quiet, tasteful, and relaxing, with local decorations and artifacts that gave it a mansion or museum feel. Our whole group liked the style, and staff were friendly and helpful throughout. We’d booked about nine months ahead: a prepaid king room for $188 a night with breakfast. The location was handy for food at Maxwell hawker center, and it was an easy five-minute walk from the subway. The rooms are small but comfortable and well appointed, with free coffee and tea, a large bathroom, and a roomy hot shower. Breakfast was very nice, with table service. We all enjoyed the stay and would consider coming back.

I booked the smallest room for a five-night work stay, which was all I needed, and it even had a TV. The pictures online capture the hotel’s distinctive character well. It was well maintained, and the staff were welcoming and professional. Simar, the doorman, greeted me on several days and was engaging and helpful. Breakfast was included, quick, and very good. I could get in and out about as fast as at a buffet, but with plated service. I got what I expected, and in some ways a bit more. I didn’t hear construction noise from my room.

We had dinner at Polo Bar downstairs, where the food was delicious and the stylish setting still felt cozy. Service was attentive without being too much. Our Deluxe King Room at Maxwell Reserve Hotel exceeded expectations. It was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully designed, with an excellent bed and lots of thoughtful details. The whole stay felt like a nice mix of comfort, elegance, and good dining. We’d happily stay again and recommend it.

It’s a great hotel for getting to the office quickly, and I’ve stayed here several times. Housekeeping has been good, but I keep leaving wishing the reception and restaurant staff were friendlier and more engaged. Mahul was the exception, smiling and showing real interest in our requests.
