Guests with children, anyone sensitive to odors, or anyone who needs fresh air should know that every room has sealed windows and wall-to-wall carpet. The windows don’t open, so there’s no proper ventilation, and air conditioning isn’t a substitute for fresh air circulation. I noticed a dusty smell, especially in carpeted rooms, where dust and odors can build up despite regular housekeeping. That combination may be concerning from a health and hygiene perspective, and I can’t recommend the hotel. It’s surprising that carpet is still so common in hotels. People usually walk on it in outdoor shoes, bringing in dirt from public areas and restrooms. Vacuuming helps, but it can’t fully remove what settles deep in the fibers. Something future guests may want to consider. At first the hotel looks presentable, but at check-in we weren’t offered help with our three large, heavy suitcases. We were told the hotel is self-service, which was disappointing from a service standpoint.

The location worked well for going to events at the national stadium. Rooms are on the small side but totally fine for what they’re for. There’s a good hawker market and a 7 eleven across the street, and the pool is nice too. Even the construction next door wasn’t an issue.

The staff sent us from room to room trying to find one that didn’t smell and didn’t have damp bedding. We had to try five rooms, and they were all the same. No one apologized or did anything about the hassle. The lack of management was appalling. All the rooms were damp, with no windows that open, and the AC didn’t ventilate them. Even the bedding seemed wet, honestly disgusting. The bathrooms were dirty, and the carpets were awful. We were traveling with two kids for a short stay, and this was not at all the hotel we expected. Just avoid it at all costs.

The location is 5/5, but reception left us deeply disappointed. The staff avoided eye contact, gave short answers, and didn’t want to share information about the city. When I asked for a map or local attractions, I was told to use Google Maps. We’d just traveled through Sri Lanka and have done a lot of world travel, and reception staff are usually the welcoming heart of a hotel. We ended up avoiding them. The cleaning and breakfast staff were kind and nice, but I can’t put into words how the reception team made us feel. It was a really disappointing end to an otherwise fantastic trip.

Our family holiday stay was okay, and the facilities were fine overall. What bothered me was the hygiene at the buffet breakfast. Some guests ate with their hands, then touched the shared serving utensils, which put me off. The hotel should have stricter hygiene guidelines so everyone can dine more comfortably. If you stay here, I’d suggest going to breakfast early, when it’s less crowded.
