SOCIAL on Outram

There are CCTV cameras around and passcodes on all the doors, so it feels secure. Self check-in worked well, though it requires a physical IC card, and it would be great if online check-in were an option. The hotel is super clean and cozy, and the toilets are really nice. They provide tea and room slippers, and there's a pantry and gym on the top floor.

I forgot to take pictures of my room. I stayed four nights in May 2025, and the room, sheets, and everything else were clean and looked new. I also liked the location, near tiong bahru market and between outram and havelock mrt stations. There wasn't any housekeeping or cleaning during my stay, and the trash definitely piled up. The plugs are under the table, which is awkward, especially when I needed to use my hairdryer and straightener. You can hear sounds from the hallway and next door quite clearly, especially at night. Luckily, my neighbors weren't too loud.

It didn't feel like a 4 star hotel. I booked a deluxe room, which apparently means a window with steel bars. The room was very, very small, and even the only chair felt like too much furniture to get around. There's no space for a shower door, so the whole toilet gets wet. They could at least hang a shower curtain. Room service only emptied the trash, without making the bed or replacing the complimentary water. I'd only stay again if I were by myself.

We stayed at Social on Outram over the xmas period, 25-28 Dec 2025, and the price was acceptable. Havelock station is close by, so we'll see you again. The hotel is new, but it doesn't seem to be well maintained, and housekeeping could be better. Soundproofing is another issue. I used the self check-in machine, but the directions for getting through the ground floor glass door weren't clear. The staff responded promptly on whatsapp and came down to help.
