Value Hotel Nice

Small, but fine. A good hotel in Balestier, close to wangpo, which makes it really convenient to find food.

The receptionist who checked us in was very rude and spoke to us as if he were paying for our stay. The room itself was small but acceptable, though there was dust all over behind the TV and pictures.

The bathroom was fresh and had no odd smells, and the geyser worked just fine. The window was fixed, but all those colors made it feel like a rainbow had burst across it. The room was genuinely neat and clean, matching the description, except the locker was dead. The receptionist apologized and said a replacement had been ordered, so I appreciated the honesty. The front desk staff were really helpful, especially the guy I met in the evening. Sorry, I forgot your name, but you saved me. No bidet, but that wasn’t a dealbreaker. Pretty solid stay, 9/10 🤩. Worth checking out if you're in Singapore, just don't expect miracles from the locker 😂.

We paid for another room in the end, but this was the worst treatment I’ve had at a hotel. There are plenty of other affordable places around where guests get basic decency, so I’d choose one of those. My travel plans changed at the last minute, and I needed to stay one night with my friends. We were three people, and we’d tried to book an extra room, but Agoda showed the hotel as fully booked. At 2 AM, receptionist Tommy found out and insisted I either go downstairs to pay for another room or we’d all be kicked out. I was already asleep and resting, yet he made my friend wake me just to threaten us with eviction. It felt completely unnecessary and aggressive. I understand that hotels have rules, but this wasn’t reasonable. A professional hotel could have dealt with it in the morning instead of making threats in the middle of the night. A budget price doesn’t excuse a budget attitude.
