Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay

When we left an item at the hotel, I called and the staff found it, then rang us back so we could collect it. They were friendly and helpful throughout, and some even remembered us the next day. Our family of five fit comfortably in the generously sized room, and the spacious bathroom had both a bath and shower, which was handy with young children. The pool was great for us, and breakfast was excellent, including gluten-free bread for our daughter. It was easy to get around by taxi or on foot. I’d recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Clarke Quay is right on the doorstep, a lively riverside area full of bars, restaurants, and clubs. The hotel is clean, the reception looks updated, and there’s a small mall next door plus a 7 Eleven downstairs for snacks and toiletries around the clock. Rooms are a good size, and the city-facing views are outstanding, so I’d ask for one of those. It’s good value. The gym is a bit small, though it wasn’t busy when I went. I didn’t try the pool, but it seems like it could be a nice way to cool off after a hot day.

Customer service was good. They answered our internal survey straight away and tried to address what we asked for, though the requests weren’t resolved. The location is great, the room is spacious, the bathroom is nice, the shower pressure is amazing, and the views are beautiful. But the building feels old, the carpets are worn and grubby, and the internet is slow. It looks quite different from the online photos. I probably won’t stay here again.

I enjoyed the stay, especially relaxing in the room with its excellent TV channels. The Handy phone with data was useful, and the switches, clock, and aircon controls were easy to reach from bed. Requests were dealt with quickly, and the shared facilities were good too. The interactive games on the smart table in the level 7 waiting area kept children occupied while parents waited. At breakfast, staff cleared plates quickly, giving us more table space, but the food selection was limited and the quality only acceptable. Waiting for the lift from level 7 to the rooms could take a long time at dinner-hour peaks. Despite those small issues, my staycation at Novotel Clarke Quay was enjoyable.
