Apartments and rooms Meščanka

The setup in apartment 5 worked well for us. It had a private King bedroom with its own toilet and shower, plus another King bed outside that room, semi-private and without a door to the main area. The second bathroom was easy to reach and had a toilet but no shower. Our 13-year-old loved the professionally installed netted loft above the semi-private bed and slept up there the whole stay. You could see the netted area from the bed below, unless, of course, a 13-year-old moved all the bedding up there. Fun! The apartment had just been renovated, and we were only the second guests to stay in it. The location is hard to beat: stairs lead down to lots of patio bars and restaurants, and almost anything in the walkable area is about five minutes away. I'm sensitive to noise, especially in busy pedestrian areas on weekends. The windows kept it out really well, though it was lovely to open them during the day and hear the crowd noise and church bells. Very European, which I love. There was a dishwasher, stove, and small refrigerator in the kitchen, which seemed adequately equipped. We didn't use them because we were out enjoying the local area. As an avid traveler, I can't think of anything negative to say about the place or its attentive owners.

We loved staying at the Mescanka Apartments. Savo was a huge help when our airline lost our luggage. We had arranged for him to pick us up at the airport, and although we arrived late, he waited for us and helped us get our bags back in the end. Thanks again, Savo!

For central Ljubljana, this was the least expensive place we could find, and the location was excellent. The room was large, though somewhat dark, with a very creaky floor. The lights also seemed to switch on and off depending on where we walked, which felt a little suspect. When we arrived, after a long and stressful bus trip from Croatia, the room was full of ants. The hotel initially tried to help get rid of them, but they returned every day and staff seemed irritated by our complaints. There were obvious holes in the bathroom wall that needed filling, so we put a broom in front of them, which sort of worked. I suppose you get what you pay for.

The place has character, with historical details throughout, and the rooms are friendly apartment-style spaces with a full kitchen, though there's no microwave. For the price, it's a great space. The staff were super friendly, and the location right on the river is excellent. That does mean you're close to the river's nightlife and the noise of people having fun, but the windows do a great job of keeping it out. You can pay extra for breakfast in the first-floor cafe. The staff there are friendly, and they serve a decent hot or cold breakfast. It's convenient.
