There were a few useful things about the room: it was a good size, had air control and a full-length mirror, and the window opened. It’s well placed for the University of Ljubljana Maths and Physics buildings, with a bus stop and supermarket around the corner. I cleaned the very dusty window before leaving it open. Inside, though, a lot was in poor shape. Many cupboard and drawer knobs were missing, so they were hard to open. The room was dusty, and the carpet clearly hadn’t been vacuumed before we arrived, with lots of hairs tangled in it. I cleaned the room before we could sleep there. The shower handle didn’t work, so you had to hold the shower head, and there was mould in the shower. The bathroom smelled strongly of urine when we arrived, though flushing the toilet many times helped. There was also a strong air freshener smell in the room. Unfortunately, the price was far too high for the quality at Luwiana Suites. I can’t recommend staying here.

Check-in and check-out were easy, and the shower had the strong flow I like. The hotel is on a quiet, peaceful street, about a 30-minute walk from the city center. But the room smelled mouldy as soon as I entered, and I kept having to empty the dehumidifier. I didn’t see anyone on site the whole time; there’s a phone to reach someone, though based on earlier reviews, it seems like issues don’t get addressed. The air con hummed loudly every so often, and the fridge noise didn’t help. I didn’t get much sleep.

The parking was the one really good thing, and it could work for a cheap trip. The bathroom was nicely done and there was at least a small fridge, but the room was so tiny you could barely take a step. I’d booked a “standard luxury room” based on the photo and description, which showed a couch and space around the bed, but that wasn’t what we got. The bed wasn’t very comfortable, and there was hair left behind, so it hadn’t been cleaned properly. Also, nobody was at reception for days.

We left after one night even though we’d booked two. The bed was uncomfortable and I woke with back pain. The hotel looked awful from outside because it was under construction at the time. It might be okay for a night, but it wasn’t a nice stay. We arrived at 14:20 and used self check-in, but the room wasn’t ready, even though online it said it would be at 14:00. With nobody at reception, I had to call. They said the cleaning lady had forgotten to clean it and asked us to wait 1-2 hours. After driving 7 hours to get there, we were told to wait instead of being offered another room. When we returned two hours later, the room was ready, but the blankets had several spots and weren’t clean.
