I booked a month before the trip and submitted the documents for our visas. Last year we got visas successfully, but this year our family was denied. There was still almost a week before the trip, so a refund could have been requested, at the property owner's discretion. Andrej refused, saying it wasn't possible. I rent out an apartment on Booking myself, and know that even a non-refundable deposit can be returned for a valid reason. I don't think Andrej earned the €300, and I found his response unworthy of a host rated above 9. I wouldn't recommend renting here if there's any chance your trip might fall through.

The host gave us great instructions, and there was a big yard with private parking. A great apartment for families.

Andrej was wonderfully responsive, and the parking worked perfectly. The unit had a fridge, small stovetop, microwave, coffee pod machine and kettle. It's in a quiet part of town, about a 15-minute walk from the old town and the bridges across the river. There are several grocery stores nearby, and it's close to the Maribor market. We didn't have enough time in this lovely town, and hope to come back.

We slept really well. The beds were long and high quality, with good sheets, and the quiet area meant no noise problems. The shower and toilet were clean, with warm water. The hosts were easygoing, friendly and tidy. The kitchen gear was all top quality and worked without trouble, from the induction cooker with four hobs and the oven to the microwave, coffee machine, pans, blinds, blankets and pillows. Even the Meinl coffee machine made great coffee, and cooking was a pleasure.

The apartment was beautiful, and everything went perfectly. Communication was great and self check-in was easy. Definitely five stars if you want to stay in Marinor!
