Videc Hotel & Apartments

A relaxing break between Christmas and work in 2025. We had Wi-Fi, a pool, parking, skiing, food, kids' activities in the room, hiking and mountain biking. Maribor is just down the hill, and Graz in Austria is pretty close too, about 1 hour 20 minutes away.

There’s a wellness area in the tourist village, only about 20m from the hotel. The room is spacious, with two regular beds and two foldaway bunk beds, so it can sleep four. Breakfast is self-service with a classic selection; the eggs and bacon are fresh, and they keep bringing food out. The hotel sits at the top of the ski slope. The funicular takes 8 minutes to Maribor, while driving takes 30 minutes because you have to go around the hill. A nice place to stay after a tiring day skiing or hiking.

We spent two days here over Christmas 2021. The location is good, close to the ski slopes and kids' ski school. In my opinion, the only reasonable way to use the hotel is to spend the whole day on the slopes and come back just to sleep. We care about following the Covid rules, so it was disappointing to hear a staff member say, "oh sorry, it's just uncomfortable to wear a mask." Staff, especially at reception, wore masks on their chins. Nobody checked PCT conditions, and guests felt free to enter the lobby without masks. I know some people hate the rules, but if you care about others, please avoid this place.

The staff seemed nice, and our room was big enough for about four people. But the beds felt old and we really couldn't sleep well on them. The extra bedding in the closet had yellow stains, and despite the greeting card mentioning a safe, we couldn't find one. There was a fridge, but it didn't work, and there was no Wi-Fi available. There are two hotels here, and Hotel Videc seems to be owned by a much nicer hotel.
