Rudolf, the owner, was incredibly friendly, and I had a very comfortable night here with a friend while we were hiking the Slovenian Mountain Trail. Dinner and breakfast were both great. Call or email before turning up, though, so you know they’re open and expecting you. Out of the places I stayed during three weeks of hiking in Slovenia, this was one of the best.

Rudi, the hutkeeper, was the highlight of my night here. He greeted my friend and me with so much energy and kindness, and he was a lot of fun to talk with. The guesthouse was cute, clean, and homey, with a warm shower and great food. I stayed during my Slovenian Mountain Trail thru(ish) hike, and of the twenty huts I’ve stayed at in Slovenia, this was one of the best.

Call ahead so you don’t end up standing outside a locked door. Rudi welcomed me warmly, and I felt right at home. He also shared fascinating information about the area.

This is right along one of Slovenia’s top cycling routes, so you can tackle exciting climbs on the nearby mountains. Or just take in the area’s unusual mix of Mediterranean and Alpine flora and fauna. And even beyond the natural beauty, the owner is so friendly, warmhearted, and bubbly that the visit is worth it.
