The wooden furniture and local touches, like the polar bear, books, and maps, give the hotel a lovely feel. The staff were kind all the way from the kitchen to reception, and our room was wonderfully warm even with temperatures outside around -20 to -30 degrees. It’s a great base for northern lights viewing and activities in town and nearby. We loved visiting in winter and would like to come back in spring or summer. Everything felt perfect to me, easily worth at least six stars, and the hotel could easily earn three or four stars.

I loved the cosy, warm atmosphere and the cool rooms at Basecamp. Breakfast was delicious and healthy, and Kroa is right next door, so dinner is easy to find.

The guides made the activities fantastic, and Runar, Matt, and Marta were incredible, along with everyone at the front desk. The people here are wonderful, and breakfast is delicious too. This was the best place in town for us. We can’t wait to return!

The expedition-style setup is nicely done, and the hotel serves an excellent breakfast. Our room had plenty of space, but the bunk beds weren’t comfortable or very suitable for an older couple. I slept in the top bunk and didn’t get a comfortable night’s rest.

It was a really nice experience, with a warm atmosphere, some very kind staff, and a strong Arctic feel. Just remember this is an unconventional and expensive hotel, and you’ll need to set aside the usual amenities you might expect elsewhere. You’re staying in one of the world’s northernmost villages, after all.
