Penzión Zefir Bojnice

We spent four nights here and were very satisfied throughout. The rooms were clean, breakfast was sufficient, and the staff were helpful. When we had a toilet problem, the owner responded right away and fixed it. We could reach out to him about anything, and the setting was pleasant and quiet. After reading negative reviews beforehand, we’d hesitated, but I really don’t understand them now. We’d gladly stay here again.

The breakfast was only replenished once, at eight, so by 8:20 there was nothing left to eat. Our room was in awful shape too: hair everywhere, cobwebs, broken lights, and dirty bedding. They also tried to move us without telling us, which was the last straw. We came because of the good reviews, but I suspect they write them themselves. This guesthouse was a complete disaster. We might as well have thrown €160 out the window and stayed home.

The guesthouse sits in a quiet area not far from the center. The owner told me they were also planning a wellness center for the season. I’d highly recommend the place, especially since Bojnice gets lively in summer. Booking by email was easy, and they were happy to let me arrive earlier than stated. Card payment was available too. The rooms had clean, new furniture, with a towel and a soap dispenser in the bathroom. The bar and dining room were modern, and there were places to sit outside by the bar and in the common room. Since I was the only guest, I didn’t expect a buffet breakfast, but I was offered a choice. It came quickly with a garnish and a selection of bread and pastries, plus coffee made to my preference. They also make pizza, with delivery around Bojnice, and the selection is shown in the attached photo.

I would never stay at this guesthouse again. During our week with the family, the rooms weren't cleaned until after we left. Unless you asked for a towel change or soap refill, you had to wash with smelly towels. There was no privacy, since everyone shared a bathroom in one room. The food was edible for the first two days, then leftovers were put away and reheated, so we ate the same things all week. Breakfast was the same for 30 guests, with only 20 slices of salami and 10 fried eggs. Dinner was always cold because the food was left uncovered and only reheated, so it never reached the right temperature. If hygiene inspectors came, the guesthouse could be shut down. I don't know where the four stars come from. The rating is four online, but there isn't even a star displayed at the guesthouse, and in my opinion it doesn't deserve one. A week there was a waste of money.
