Bivio Hotel

The hotel is only a short drive from downtown, and the area was quiet. My room was spacious, though it warmed up very quickly. I had a bike with me, and the staff were super helpful and accommodating. A lovely stay.

Getting into the centre takes a little effort. There’s a bus stop nearby, or you can walk about 700 metres to catch a direct tram. The hotel is on the outskirts and has its own parking, though finding a nearby space shouldn’t be too difficult either. Our room was clean and average in size. In September, the lack of air conditioning wasn’t an issue, but it could be different in hotter months. The shower was comfortable, although it had a curtain rather than a door, which felt below what I’d expect from a three-star hotel. Breakfast was the biggest letdown: limited choice, ingredients that didn’t seem particularly high quality, no juice, and the worst hotel coffee I’ve ever had. It felt more like a coffee substitute than the real thing. There’s definitely room to improve. For a short stay where breakfast doesn’t matter much, this could work. Otherwise, I’d look elsewhere.

We celebrated my 30th birthday here with the whole family. The food was delicious, and the staff were kind and helped serve the food we brought along. The price was reasonable for a place within Bratislava. If you’re planning a celebration or even a wedding, it’s worth considering.

The hotel was clean, but the service was really bad. My room didn’t look like the picture and had no air conditioning. It felt like the cheapest, worst room possible. I’m a student with a valid visa, yet the receptionist kept insisting I needed an ID because of “Europe policy.” That made no sense, and I had to argue for 30 minutes. Another hotel accepted my visa without any fuss. He even said he was being “nice” by finally accepting it, as if he thought I was lying despite the visa in my passport. Check-in was very slow, and the manager was rude when I checked out.
