The only thing I’d fault is the limited choice of vegetarian food. The rooms are small, though practical, and the whole complex is kept spotlessly clean. Staff were polite and helpful. It’s a lovely, quiet setting, well suited to walkers or anyone after a peaceful break.

I’ve travelled through more than 40 countries and stayed in all kinds of hotels, including in India, China, the Maldives, Hawaii, Peru, and Thailand. This was one of the most stressful stays I’ve had. On the same trip, I paid 150 a night in Szczawnica for a 5 star hotel with modern facilities, a superb spa, and great food. I also stayed in Nowy Targ for $50 a night, where the room was bigger and better, water was provided, and the service was much better. This hotel felt like 1 star by comparison, yet charged the same. We paid $150 for one night, 70 Euro a person. We only came because we couldn’t find an available hotel nearby and it was getting late. I regret not driving the extra 90 minutes home. There was absolutely no wellness about it. My advice is to look elsewhere. If you do end up here, don’t pay in advance. Pay at checkout so you can try to negotiate. I paid at check-in in good faith, and they said no refund was possible. The manager, Rastislav Masiar, first offered 10% back, then withdrew that and said they could give 5% as credit for a future stay only. I said I’d never return, and they then said there was nothing else they could do. The room itself was far too small. Two carry-on bags were hard to fit, and with the chair pushed fully under the desk, there was no room to walk between the bed and the other bed. The phone was broken and had no signal, so you had to go to the lobby for everything. I went down with questions at first, then gave up because we were tired. The thermostat was broken too. The room reached 23 C within minutes of our arrival after 9pm, and it was over 24 C just before I turned out the lights. It was very warm at night. There were two glasses and a bottle opener on the desk, but no water. When I asked, they said I could buy some, so I did. There was no coffee pot or tea pot either. At the sink and shower, there was only hand soap, no shampoo or shower gel, though they did provide a disposable shower cap. Basic necessities were missing. The bathroom socket was completely exposed, with hanging wires, which is a serious hazard in a wet area. The door to the adjoining room was open, so the people next door could have entered at any time. I leaned my back against it briefly and it popped open.

The restaurant’s pizza selection was about average. Don’t expect Italian quality, though it was good when we were really hungry. We also used the indoor pool, which was great, especially if you want to swim. It costs a little too much for people who aren’t staying at the hotel, but the service was worth it.

We dropped in during the holidays and got some cake for free. The pizzas were wonderful, and the spicy one actually had a kick. They were generous with the cheese too, really cheesy goodness.
