Workers seemed to be staying there, and I kept running into drunk people. The hygiene and atmosphere felt like a Soviet-era building. Cigarette smell was everywhere, the rooms were dirty, and under the bed we found nails and used hygiene products left by previous guests. I wouldn’t even sit on the toilet for fear of catching something. I’ve never stayed in a worse hotel.

Room maintenance clearly isn’t a priority, and the place is supposed to be non-smoking, hahaha, but avoid it. If you live in a cardboard box, this is a little more comfortable, but only just.

The staff handling things were very polite. For a single night it’s okay, but that’s about it. You get what you pay for.

We’d booked the Sabinovská apartments ahead of time, but when my friends and I arrived at the Hotel Šariš reception on New Year’s Eve, they said we wouldn’t be staying there after all. They moved us at the last minute to completely different apartments and gave no further explanation. We’d paid through noon the next day, but at 10:00 the cleaning lady came in and said she hadn’t been told anything. Communication was freezing.

It was a complete disaster. The place smelled awful when we arrived, and the room was such a mess I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. There was grease and hair everywhere, and the furniture was damaged. After about five minutes, once I’d collected myself, I tried to agree on getting my money back. The receptionist called the owner and said they didn’t understand what I disliked. After an unpleasant call with the owner, I said I’d call Šojka and the police, and they refunded me. Nothing more. Hygiene clearly means nothing to them.
