Black Horse

Getting into the room took an hour, even with the AI machine’s help. The room itself was clean, large, and okay, but this was our last stay here after having visited twice before. I’d filled in all the required details online from home the previous evening and received check-in codes from the hotel. But the English version of the check-in system didn’t work, and the person on the help line couldn’t sort it out. We got lucky when a Ukrainian person living in Slovakia, who was looking for a hotel and spoke Slovak, helped us use the Slovak menu. I paid for parking and two €5 charges for the privilege of visiting town. The machine gave us a room card that wouldn’t open the door. I called the human help line again, and once the heavy rain had stopped, a young woman arrived with a real metal key. There’s no receptionist, the entrance door isn’t kept locked, and anyone can come inside. Also, the room fridge was switched on but warm instead of cold.

The rooms deserve a 5 from me: they’re very spacious and nicely decorated, and the reception service was courteous. The hotel has potential, and I’d come back. Breakfast needs attention, though. The buffet had very little food and not much variety, and the scrambled eggs were unpleasant. Best wishes and good luck.

We’d stay here again when we’re back in town. We were happy with breakfast because they had our favorite, French toast, even though the selection overall was limited. The bathroom was roomy and clean, there were plenty of outlets for charging phones or laptops, and the window opened wide, which was useful in the warm weather. The bed was large, but too soft for us, though that’s a matter of preference. The hotel is centrally placed, with sights and good restaurants an easy walk away. Staff were helpful and spoke English. Reception runs around the clock, and the parking gate was opened whenever we asked. There are lovely horse pictures all around, including in the room. The price was average. A little maintenance is needed: the door handle squeaked, and at first we had to push it down hard to get in. There also wasn’t anywhere to set our own shower gel while using the shower, and the towel felt too rough. We knew ahead of time there was no air conditioning. Thanks for everything!

There are horse references all over the place. If you count them, let us know the number! 😀 Horse lover or not, this is where I’d stay in Presov. A spacious, bright room and king-size bed made for a delightful evening. Highly recommended.
