Penzión Talisman

The woman who checked me in at Penzion Talisman was patient and kind, even though she didn’t speak English. My experience with the other woman wasn’t as good. She knocked on my door twice to push me to check out, while I was running a little late because of an early work meeting. Okay... After I left, I needed Wi-Fi for urgent work on a meeting. The door was locked and nobody answered when I knocked, so I ended up using Wi-Fi outside. I don’t know if that was intentional, but it felt disrespectful.

We had a very good stay at this quiet guesthouse in Rajecke Teplice. It’s close to the center and Aphrodite spa, and the renovated 1890 building combines modern touches with original 19th-century interiors. The breakfast selection was good, and the dining room makes you feel like a lord in a castle. The ladies on staff were kind and helpful, and we felt welcome. Our studio deluxe, room 47, was spacious and nicely decorated, with a large flat-screen TV, a comfortable king-size bed, a mini fridge, and a kitchenette equipped for making coffee, tea, or even a meal. The bathroom had a bathtub and hair dryer. We also booked the private wellness area with its sauna, whirlpool, and relaxation corner. It was very clean and a great experience. I’d recommend the guesthouse and would come back. A few things could be better: we found dust fluff on the wardrobe, the vestibule shelf, and the bathroom radiator columns. The bed has two mattresses, which is fine for friends, but a couple might prefer one king-size mattress without a gap. The Wi-Fi in our room was a bit weak.

The staff were very welcoming, and there’s plenty of parking. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable, in a wonderful location. If you want a view different from the one in the picture, ask for a room above the ground floor.

We ended up staying in Rajecke Teplice for one night instead of two. The pension’s staff were understanding, kind, and helpful about arranging that. We enjoyed the stay too. Talisman is a good option if you want reasonably priced accommodation there.
