Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras

The wellness experience was a real highlight. The staff there were amazing, and the whole area was cleaner than I’ve seen at other hotels. Our room was very comfortable and a lovely place to unwind. Breakfast had lots of variety and was delicious. We had a wonderful weekend at Kempinski High Tatras. The service was exceptional, and the comfort, cleanliness throughout, and excellent Wellness & Spa made the stay feel special. There’s something extra here, in its remarkable location and in the heart of the place. We left relaxed, recharged from everyday stress, and full of fresh energy and new thoughts. It was just the getaway we needed.

We stopped for a light lunch at the lobby bar, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. We didn’t stay at the hotel, but would consider it in future. Spending over the bar’s minimum included parking, which let us see the lake without having to find separate parking. The food is pricey for Slovakia, but reasonable for its quality and refined feel.

We’ve used this hotel as an escape from the pre-Christmas rush several times, but this visit gets a 4 from me because of the spa. Some things weren’t working during high season, including the hot tub and steam sauna, and other areas didn’t feel like they were at the right temperature. The spa seemed poorly looked after. The food was good, though the lounge menu is a bit small. At checkout, I noticed some guests got tea as a goodbye gift while others got champagne and tea. We were given a second bag with champagne only after mentioning our disappointment with the spa. It felt very embarrassing. Nobody checked during our stay to see if everything was okay, and we felt invisible as guests. Kempinski could do better. I’ll think twice before coming back.

Getting around the hotel can feel a bit like a maze because it spans three buildings, and the rooms are cosy but on the small side. Parking was another downside. Valet service is expensive, and if you skip it, you may still pay a lot and park quite far from the entrance. What made our stay special was the view of the lake from our room. The window wasn’t large, but the scenery was breathtaking. The bed was very comfortable, and we slept well. The spa was spacious and beautifully designed, with lake views too. After a swim, relaxing on a lounger with a smoothie was lovely. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful. It’s a great place if you’re after comfort, relaxation, and beautiful views.
