Medrie International Hotel

I was excited to come home to Sierra Leone with my family, and booked this hotel through AirBnB for five of us. Before we arrived, I tried to contact Mohamed, the manager, but got no response. I was a little concerned, though I didn’t think much of it at the time. We arrived late in the evening, and I was shocked when Mohamed demanded more money even though the full payment had already been accepted online. I showed him the payment information, but he ignored it, became aggressive, and tried to physically harm my driver. In the end, I could only get my money back through AirBnB. It felt like a lucky escape because the hotel was filthy, with cockroaches and mosquitoes everywhere. Stay at your own risk, and keep a paper trail of any payments, as they may try to defraud you.
