Le Kooniguy

After six years living in Senegal, I can say this lodge is well above the average standard here. The location speaks for itself, the rooms are huge with very high ceilings, and the pool area is well kept. The biggest highlight is the restaurant: every day they serve excellent three-course lunches and dinners. I really don't understand the negative reviews. Anyone who thinks it's poor value hasn't traveled enough in Senegal.

The grounds are impeccable, the food and service are great, and the owners and staff made us feel extremely welcome. It's a fantastic place to visit, stay, or have a meal. The rooms are spacious, with extra room as well, so you won't be disappointed. There's good birding and fishing nearby, and reaching the lodge by boat is an experience in itself. Enjoy!

We came back to Kooniguy and were delighted to find the same team there. Ibou looked after us so well, always attentive and available. The food is still excellent, and Djogou brings real creativity and originality to every dish. Hats off to the chef! The value for money is unbeatable. The setting is enchanting and feels wonderfully different. It was a welcome escape, like stepping outside of time. Thanks again, Ibou, for making our stay at Kooniguy so lovely. We can't wait to come back!!
