The owners were kind and helpful. They greeted us warmly, talked with us, and even brought us food at night when we hadn't asked in advance. The facilities were clean and pleasant. But I heard a kitten crying the entire time we were there. When I went to look, it was tied tightly to a tree, alone in its own waste, with nothing to lie on. Apparently they keep the cats to control the mice. I understand animals are treated differently here than where I'm from, and I saw similar things around the island. I'm only mentioning it because I hope the review might encourage them to care for the animals more thoughtfully. If I could, I'd take every animal living like this and give it a more comfortable life. This is all I can do, and I hope it makes even the smallest difference.

The three cozy bungalows sit in a big garden near the village of Monte Café. We had a friendly welcome and a nice breakfast. Screened windows let the cool mountain air in at night, so we didn't need air conditioning. One evening, the rest of the village went dark in a power cut, but we still had electricity thanks to the generator.

Mr. José and Ju saved our evening by putting together a last-minute dinner when everything else was closed. The conditions were good, though there was no air conditioning, and it wasn't that hot anyway. Breakfast was really good and plentiful.

The bungalows were clean, roomy, and comfortable, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious and generous. What really makes the place special is Mr. José's warm welcome and personal service. It's worth staying just to talk with him and hear his tips and knowledge of the area. Thank you so much!
