Breakfast on the terrace is a real highlight at Micaval residential. Manager Waldimiro is helpful and greets you when you arrive at the airport. It’s a good option for individual and budget travellers in Sao Tome. The small hotel is in the capital, the island’s only real city, which you can explore on foot.

The room was small but fine, and breakfast was nice. The people running the hotel were kind and took plenty of time to help us. Our window wouldn’t close, though, and being beside a busy street on a Friday meant we woke to loud motorcycles and even louder drunk people shouting.

Waldimiro, the owner, is very attentive and can help with anything, whether you need a tour, a car, or something else. The location is ideal for solo travellers, and the simple room has all the essentials. I’d definitely stay here again.

What a lovely stay. We only wish we’d booked more nights. Ana and Pedro are wonderful hosts and know how to look after people. We felt at home, and the service was the best we could have asked for. Their breakfast was the best of our whole trip, even including Príncipe, and you can see how much care they put into giving guests the best. They also provide free transfers to and from the airport. Especially if it’s your first time arriving, that makes a big difference to settling into the island because they take care of everything. The upper floor, where breakfast is served, is beautifully decorated and has a great atmosphere that feels full of promise. The rooms were always clean and comfortable, with air conditioning, TV, and WiFi, and they’re well placed for getting to know the real centre of São Tomé. In the photos they look smaller than they are in person. São Tomé needs more places offering this kind of service. Thank you, Ana and Pedro.
