Hotel San Angelo

The hotel told booking.com I hadn't shown up or paid. I'm sure that was to stop me leaving a review. It looks beautiful at first, but the design is awful. The rooms are comfy, and the TV and wifi work. Every room faces the foyer, though, so the curtains have to stay closed unless you want people peering in. Every 60 seconds, industrial-strength air fresheners blast the place with overpowering scents. It felt like being trapped in a horrible perfume factory, with no way to get away from it. If you have breathing problems or a scent allergy, stay well clear. I arrived with bronchitis and felt really ill after a few minutes. The receptionist put a bag over the sprayer in my room, but that did nothing. The loud squirt every 60 seconds was annoying, too. I said I had to leave because it was hard to breathe, so she moved me to a much smaller room without a spray. It still smelled strongly of perfume, but at least I could breathe. For the price, the bathroom was tiny and basic. Breakfast is served at a cafe a short walk away, and it wasn't worth the trouble. I went the first day and ordered pancakes. There were three with banana and syrup, but every one was burnt in places, and the chef had even scraped off the worst bits. The cafe was empty, so there's no excuse for that kind of incompetence.
