Hotel Alma Azul

We spent four nights here as a family and hated having to leave. The pool was lovely, and our room was spacious, pretty, and very clean. Breakfast had lots of choices and was delicious, and the beach is close by. The staff worked hard to make sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. Manuel went out of his way to make the stay special, and Frankie was so friendly and welcoming. Alma Azul really is a special place.

We ate nearly every meal at Hotel Alma Azul, except for one. The food was fresh, tasty, and surprisingly affordable, and between that and the easygoing atmosphere, we didn’t feel a need to go elsewhere. Lisette, the owner, made us feel at home from the start. She helped arrange surfing and kept checking in to make sure things were right. The beach is about a five-minute walk, with an incredible surf break. The swell was unreal during our visit, and it became the best surf trip of my life. The rooms were roomy, clean, and comfortable. A/C worked perfectly, and the WiFi handled Zoom calls. After long days in the water, it was a great place to unwind. One thing I won’t forget: when our arranged airport transfer was late, Lisette got in her own car and drove us part of the way so we’d make it on time. That kind of care is rare. It was easily one of the best hotel values I’ve had. If you’re considering surfing in El Salvador, I’d book Alma Azul.

My father and I made a spontaneous trip and couldn’t find anywhere to stay until we came across Hotel Alma Azul. Frankie the Manger welcomed us warmly and gave us a beautiful room. The beach is just a 2-3 minute walk away. Definitely recommend it, thank you!

This was my second time at Alma Azul Hotel through Dimitri’s Surfcamp (Surfxplore), and I enjoyed it even more than the first. The hotel has a natural charm and feels authentic. The staff were amazing, the housekeepers especially kind, and the kitchen team was very accommodating. The food was excellent. I also got to meet Manuel, a professional and attentive manager who genuinely cares, and Frankie was just as helpful and welcoming. I highly recommend Surfxplore for its professionalism, energy, authenticity, and top-level coaching. I’ll be back for a third session with Surfxplore and Alma Azul, no hesitation. Thanks again!
