Tortuga Village

The food was fresh and full of flavor, and the customer service was great. Chef Jose Maria even came by personally to check that everything was good and see if we needed anything else. Elias brought the drinks and cocktails with outstanding service. My first time at Tortuga Village was a very nice, peaceful Friday evening from 5 pm onward. I highly recommend it for a good weekend.

What stood out most was the staff, whose service was a 10/10. My family and I loved this small but mighty hotel, especially the clean rooms and beach bungalow concept. It really feels like a hidden gem, and I’d return. The beach itself was quiet and family-friendly, but I wasn’t as keen on the nearby run-down public beaches and all the chuchos around. I appreciate that those beaches serve the local community. Hopefully the government can improve public options for locals and tourists, perhaps with a beach walk, a clean BBQ area with trash bins, or a public park with volleyball or soccer nets.

The food was the one bright spot on this visit. Everything I tried was delicious and fresh, the prices were very reasonable, and the chef and servers were great. I used to absolutely love this beautiful place, but my January 2026 visit was bad. With so many day passes, the pool and beachfront were far too crowded, and people staying in bungalows sometimes had nowhere to sit by the beach. Day visitors were also allowed to bring huge DJ or party-style speakers. At times, different speakers played different music at once, loudly, which made everything feel chaotic and took away the peace this place used to have. There seems to be too little control, with guidelines and rules not properly enforced. It’s very unfortunate after visiting at least 6-7 times over the last couple of years.

The staff were phenomenal and went above and beyond for us. Chef Jose Maria made an amazing ceviche and other delicious seafood, and our waiter Ernesto was wonderful too. I absolutely fell in love with the amazing beach view.
