Comfort Inn Real La Union

Getting to town takes only a few minutes, and the beach is under a 15-minute drive. Dinner was good, too, though the restaurant staff didn't feel up to Choice standards. We ate by the pool one night, and the next morning the tables were still covered with our plates, glasses, and silverware. That really needs attention. The rooms feel old and don't offer the comfort I expect from a Comfort Inn. Service was disappointing. I'm used to staff making an effort to help guests feel comfortable, but the woman at reception didn't seem to care whether we stayed. The security staff outside actually gave us more information about the area. The grounds are badly neglected, with none of the trimmed lawns, bushes, or flower beds I associate with Comfort hotels elsewhere. There are no signs at the guarded entrance to show you're arriving at the hotel, so we had to ask the guard if we were in the right place. The guardhouse could use fresh paint, too. Other guests we spoke with also thought the place looked run-down and the staff unhelpful. They felt the hotel could get away with a subpar product because it's the only real hotel nearby. If you're expecting the same quality as a Comfort Inn in the USA, you'll be disappointed. It didn't live up to what I expected from a "Real" organization property or Choice hotels back home.
