Breakfast was delicious and a highlight, and the food overall was very good. The menu is limited at the moment, though, and they sometimes run out of items, likely because of current constraints. Food and cocktails cost more than in the U.S., which surprised me. The staff were the strongest part of the stay. They were genuinely kind and attentive. Dagoberto and Adrián at the gate were very helpful. Isaac and Edwin in the restaurant paid great attention, remembered our names, and responded quickly to what we needed. They deserve recognition. Service can be slow at times, though that’s common throughout El Salvador. The hotel has potential, but at the current price the value doesn’t quite add up. The rooms have no mini fridge, hair dryer, or coffee maker, which I found inconvenient. I understand the sustainability idea, but those seem like basic amenities for this price. Even a welcome drink would have been a nice touch. The property is very small, and sometimes it felt like staff were standing around instead of improving the guest experience. Parking is quite limited, too. Construction is a major drawback. We weren’t told about it until arrival, which felt misleading. The noise made it hard to relax, and the price should be lower while the work continues. There was no music for the first few days because of construction. Day beds by the beach are reserved for day-pass guests, though I think hotel guests should get priority. The pool faces the bar and restaurant, so there’s little privacy. Getting to the beach means walking through people who are dining, which is awkward. A separate space for staff meetings or corporate guests would make the shared areas more comfortable. The hotel’s highlight for me was the mascot. We named him Gardfield, even though he already had a name we forgot. I’d consider returning once construction is done and improvements are made, but right now the stay doesn’t justify the price.

The room was gorgeous, with an ocean view, and we had pool lounge chairs set aside for us with our names on them throughout our stay. Breakfast was delicious every morning, and we used the lobby water refill station daily. Nina at reception deserves a special mention. She was kind and helpful and made check-in and checkout easy. All the staff were fantastic. We’ve stayed in four different hotels here on our recent trips, and this one was easily the best. We absolutely loved it and would choose it whenever we come back. Thanks to the staff for everything.

Spending our last day in El Salvador at El Zonte beach was the plan. We’d had lunch at Palo Verde’s restaurant a few days earlier, so we asked about a day pass. It turned out to be a great choice: we could use the beach, pool, and restaurant. Some construction was underway, but it didn’t bother us. I appreciated having the option to spend the day there.

The property is lovely, the service was good, and the food tasted great. We bought a Palo Verde day pass that included the pool, restaurant, and beach. There was construction underway, with workers around the pool and bathrooms. They told us about it before we paid and showed us the area first, which felt honest and was a good sign. Walk along the beach to the right of the hotel for beautiful sunsets.

The gardens are beautiful, the location is good, and the cleaning staff did a great job. The front desk also communicated well by text. The bed was soft, though I wished there were down comforters. Management should be clearer with future guests about policies and what to expect. Based on the reviews and website, I thought Palo Verde would be a great choice for my family, but the stay was the opposite. I understand the sustainability focus, but the hotel didn’t do enough to accommodate paying guests. After 8:30 pm, they turn off the pool, hallway, restaurant, and garden mood lights. The hotel is left nearly pitch black, with no visibility on the way to your room. They’re building a swimming pool right now, blocking the ocean view and cutting off beach access. The work is directly in front of the existing pool, and the noise made it hard to disconnect. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to families. There’s no common area for spending time together, and the room balconies are too small for meetups. There are no room refrigerators or ice machines, and I didn’t see the luxury in this hotel.
