The location and pool area were nice, and it's only about a two-minute walk down to the beach. The breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. But if stairs are difficult for you, getting back to the rooms from the beach can feel like climbing about five flights. Noise was the biggest problem for us. The rooms are loud at night and early in the morning, and you can clearly hear critters moving through the walls. At check-in they said road noise wouldn't be bad, but trucks and buses go by constantly, shifting gears as they climb and descend. The toilet in the bathroom also makes a strange running noise. After checkout, we realized we'd left a skirt hanging in the shower. We came back a few hours later, but were told it hadn't been found, which was disappointing.

We ended up buying a couple of extra water containers from the hotel to wash our dishes, brush our teeth, and wash our faces. The water from the shower and pool had a strange smell and texture, and it burned our eyes the first time we showered. That's the only reason I gave this place four stars.

Right across from one of the best waves in all of El Salvador, this was a perfect place for our surfing stay, and I'd absolutely come back. It's also a great spot for couples. The landscaping is beautiful, the staff are friendly, and breakfast is included. You can rent boards on site, and the beach is just a few steps from your room.

The security guards were very rude and didn't speak English. You can't go to the restaurant unless you're staying here.

The service was absolutely 💯. Big thanks to Moises from the restaurant, who went above and beyond to arrange a special birthday breakfast for my friends. He decorated the table with flowers and confetti, and even helped me arrange to have a cake delivered. It was beyond what I expected. I'll definitely be visiting Kayu again.
