Olas Permanentes

Olas Permanentes is simple and rustic, but it made our family feel welcome. I turned 80 recently and wanted a beach reunion, so I chose it as our home base because I’d visited before. The location is hard to beat, and the restaurant was wonderful. We were 38 people, young and old. Francisco, Carolina, Carlos, and the rest of the staff went out of their way to help us with everything, including finding a place for me, a Catholic priest, to say Mass twice with my family before dinner. We celebrated, ate, laughed, and had a great time. The kids had surf lessons and got sunburned. When we came down with the flu, which we’d brought with us, the staff supported us. I’ll never forget that care. I’ve never had this level of service and hospitality at a hotel. It was an unforgettable, blessed experience.

The price is good, though you get what you pay for. We were in the turtle room, which faced the parking lot, but the room itself was fine. The hotel is right on the beach and is the only hotel or restaurant on this side of the river with direct beach access. I didn’t enjoy the stay. It seems to cater mainly to restaurant customers, with no real amenities for hotel guests. The restaurant food was mediocre, and after our first meal we found much better options in El Zonte.

The beach was one of the best I’ve ever visited, and I liked the restaurant. The staff were super friendly, too. Shared bathrooms were new to me, but they didn’t bother me since I mainly wanted a place to sleep and enjoy the views. For the price, it’s worth it. I’d recommend it if shared restrooms are okay with you.

We started our El Salvador trip here and were so happy we did. The views were fantastic, the place was lovely, and our host Carlos was a real gentleman, warm and welcoming. The staff were outstanding, very friendly and helpful. Some building work on the neighboring plots caused a little daytime noise, but the waves mostly drowned it out. Great value for money. We’ll be back!
