Hawane Resort

The room was clean and comfortable, but the practical details were lacking. None of the wall plugs worked, and the complimentary coffee tray had no water glasses or teaspoons. The bathroom bin didn't have a liner. They promise free WiFi, but it only worked in the restaurant. The menu calls the juice fruit juice, though it was diluted concentrate.

Breakfast was delicious, served with a view over the property. The location is convenient for the border and only a short distance from Malolotja. It's peaceful, and the individual huts are spacious, clean, and warm even in winter.

The people at Hawane Resort made this solo trip feel safe and welcoming from the moment I arrived. I felt like family and had support with everything I needed. Richard, the owner, was especially kind and suggested places around Eswatini that made my visit worthwhile, including Mantenga Cultural Village, Sibebe Rock, and Malolotja. I also tried their houseboat. It was awesome, though I ended up seasick, and the team stayed with me until I felt better. Before I arrived, Phindile at the front desk made sure I had all the information I needed and helped sort out the online payment. Getting there was easy with Google Maps, about 240km from my house. The team also helped me get a local SIM card and airtime, and find adaptable sockets (Moz compatible). The food was great, and having a fire in the restaurant every night made it so cozy. I'm definitely coming back. They also offer massage, horse riding, and hiking. My sincere “Nhabonga” to the whole team, especially Richard, Phindile, Mhlelisi, and everyone whose names I haven't been able to fix yet. 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾

The service was great, and the restaurant felt cozy and warm with its fireplace. The accommodation has a lovely, authentic style, though it's a little out of town.
