ChababaanCham Resort

ChababaanCham has a lovely tropical feel, and staying here puts you right by the market, so it’s easy to spend the day at Amphawa without a long walk. They serve breakfast and complimentary hibiscus tea, too. The staff were really friendly. I didn’t manage to take any photos of the accommodation, unfortunately.

The facilities are good and the place is nicely decorated. It’s in the market area, not far from the city’s well-known temple, and breakfast is included for every guest.

A beautiful spot with a simple, forest-like feel, right on the water. It was clean and secure, and breakfast and Wi-Fi were included. The staff were very friendly and helpful, though they don’t really seem to start work until around noon, so plan for that. We had some trouble with the hot water but didn’t mind much. I’d highly recommend it.

The room was adequate for a one-night stay, and the accommodation itself has a quaint feel. Getting there took about a 7-10 minute walk from the drop-off point near the market entrance, despite my impression that it was right in the middle of the main market. There are plenty of shops and food stalls in the market, but not many close to the hotel. Locals said many vendors haven’t come back because rent is high and there are fewer tourists since Covid. We had several issues. The Wi-Fi around the hotel was weak, and it took a long time for the air-con to cool the room. We asked for another toilet roll when only half a roll was left, but it never arrived. The outdoor breakfast area was hot and could use another fan in summer. Fruit and desserts weren’t replenished and were left uncovered, with flies around. At checkout they didn’t have cash to return our 1000 baht deposit, so they asked to transfer it. Since I don’t live in Thailand, I had to arrange for it to go to my mum’s account, which was a hassle. We also asked them to find a taxi back to BKK. They said they’d tried but everything was booked, yet when we searched ourselves we found one in 5-10 minutes. I wouldn’t come back myself, but if they make some of the suggested improvements, I’m sure it could be one of the best places to stay in Ampawa.
