Ti Thong Hostel

The alley could smell a bit sometimes, though it wasn’t like that all the time. I liked how local the area felt, and it was quiet. It didn’t seem sketchy to me at all. The Grand Palace is about a 20-minute walk away, the MRT station takes 5-10 minutes on foot, and 7-Eleven is under five minutes away. The staff were so welcoming. After checkout I dropped my key and it bounced down the stairs. One of them got right down and reached under the stairs to retrieve it without me even asking. The room was clean, and the bed was pretty comfortable for a hostel. The shower and bathrooms looked new, with none of the cracked tiles I’ve seen at some hostels. I had a wonderful time here.

I liked how close it is to Chinatown and Yaowarat, which made getting around easy. The hostel staff were warm and pleasant, always greeting guests with smiles. My room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the rooftop was a nice place to unwind. I had a wonderful stay.

Nice, clean hostel with friendly staff. It’s a good, authentic area, but there aren’t restaurants or cafes nearby, so expect at least a 15-minute walk to find somewhere.

The room was extremely hot, and I had a headache and felt sick after visiting some temples. I asked the receptionist to turn on the air conditioning, since theirs was running at reception, but they refused. They then showed me a paper saying it’s shut off from 12-3 pm. I hadn’t known that, and nobody had told me. I didn’t think it was fair, especially when I was feeling unwell. I tried recording the conversation for my own safety, and the receptionist got scared and called the police, saying I was recording her face. I explained I was only recording what she said, not her face, but she didn’t believe me. The police were nice, saw I hadn’t recorded her face, and left soon after. They could have just turned on the AC when I asked, but instead it became a big drama. I left the hostel before my checkout time.
