Chaya Resort

The beachside location was really nice, but I didn't get the peaceful, restful stay I was hoping for. Dogs living on the property howled through the night and woke us several times on both nights. The mattress was very uncomfortable.

It may not look inviting from outside, but inside it's a lovely, comfortable place with a great price. The staff were lovely and helpful, always asking what we needed. It's across from a quiet beach, though there was some noise early in the night. The mornings were quiet.

We found this place after an Airbnb fell through. It's very close to the beach and nightlife, but far enough from the mad hubbub, and the people are lovely. It's relatively cheap too. Breakfast was two eggs, toast, and salted butter (yum), with ham, bacon, or chicken sausage on alternate days. To be fair, some days the butter was unsalted. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the woman behind the counter kept bringing us free fruit. They were really charming. One of us ate no pork products, which confused them a bit, and they kept trying to work out what we needed. Rooms were cleaned every day, but they asked permission first. The decor is a bit tired, otherwise 5 stars.

The owner is one of the kindest people you could meet. It’s one of my favorite places, with clean, comfortable rooms.
